So you want your kid to do well at School?
Emotional Status of Monica Moore: Infuriated, frustrated, annoyed, fed up, exasperated,
irritated… to name but a few of the adjectives that currently describe how I’m feeling.
Here’s why…
I absolutely cannot understand in today’s modern world when we NEED the skills
learned by performing arts, many schools are reducing or cutting their programmes!
I’m also frustrated that the Performing Arts need to PROVE themselves time and time again!
Ok, taking deep breaths and trying to calm down…
SO…here’s an outline of the main reasons why we MUST support performing arts.
I’ve made it short and to the point and will be writing more on this later…
WHY is the necessity of Performing Arts Education not obvious??
Our world is made up of interaction, encounters, interpretation, response, reflection, personal growth and creativity of thought.
Exposure to these experiences creates opportunities to:
Improve
Develop a personal sense of self
Develop healthy relationships and respect for others
Experience the joy of meaningful thought and ideas
These things can’t be anything but GOOD for the human race.
Right?
RIGHT!!
FURTHERMORE….
Let’s take a look at our brains, cognitive function and what it affects:
Perception
Memory
Attention
Orientation
Visuospatial Skills
Executive functions (the skills that help you to get things done)
Language development
And then there’s Social Cognition which is how we process, store and apply information about others
There’s the development of interpersonal and multidisciplinary dimensions.
